Carlisle Racecourse

The Course

Carlisle racecourse is a right-handed track and is approximately 1 mile and 5 furlongs in distance. The course is undulating and is a sort of pear shape. The home straight has an extension to it, which is used for the sprint races and it is a steep uphill climb. The chase course at Carlisle has nine fences to a full circuit. From the last fence the run in is just over a furlong.

The Facilities

The County Badge Enclosure: In this enclosure you will have full access to all public areas. The County Badge also has the benefit of giving you exclusive access to the Upper Terracing. You will also have full access to both Pattersons Bar and Swifts Restaurant, which offers both two and three course lunches. Afternoon tea is also available. Advanced booking for the popular Swifts Restaurant is advised.

The Tattersalls Enclosure: Very popular with families, this enclosure will give you access to the Jubilee Grandstand, Bell Hall and the Lower Terracing. Within the Tatts are a good variety of bars and catering outlets selling hot and cold food, snacks and drink.

How To Get To Carlisle

By Road: 

Take the M6 and exit Junction 42. Carlisle Racecourse is approximately 1.5 miles south of the city. The course is about 2 miles from Junction 42 and is very signposted all the way. Carlisle racecourse also benefits from Free Parking.

By Train:

The nearest British Rail station is Carlisle Station. It is approximately 2 miles from the racecourse and buses and taxis are available.
