Ffos Las Racecourse

The Course

Ffos Las Racecourse opened its doors in June 2009 and was originally named after the farm that once occupied the site. Lying between the old mining villages of Trimsaran and Carway, the translation of Ffos Las to English is known as ‘blue ditch’. The racecourse was built at the site of an open cast coal mine after mining operations were ceased, surrounded by rolling hills and countryside, the racecourse has spectacular views down the Gwendraeth Valley to Carmarthen Bay which makes it hard to believe that Ffos Las was once an open cast.
