Set in the heart of the Somerset countryside we are England’s youngest jumps racecourse and stage around 15 national hunt race meetings every season. Taunton racecourse not just about racing as they have brilliant facilities for conferences, meetings, parties and events. It is also the perfect venue for a wedding reception.
The course on Orchard Great Field has been transformed over the years. Soil from the M5 motorway was used to build up and extend the bends and the back straight of the track, while the Somerset clay soil has been well drained to provide the best possible going throughout the season. Facilities for spectators have been spectacularly improved from the early days, when viewing was from a small wooden stand, often surrounded by a sea of mud.
