Since I have resurrected the COMPUTERACE ratings system it has thrown up some fantastic winners and it’s consistency at big meetings has been phenomenal. It has been in action for over 30 years and still produces more winners than any other system I have come across. So in the table for each race you will see lots of data produced and also the horses are listed in the order that the COMPUTERACE has rated each horse. Anything red is data I have highlighted that I feel is important. The horse in red and also red bold are my selections for the race. The bold being my preference. Some people like to keep it simple and bet on one or more of the top rated selections.
2:30 ROYAL ASCOT - QUEEN ANNE STAKES - 1 MILE
I am opposing Rosallion in the first with two selections which are big enough prices to go each way on both. NOTABLE SPEECH for in form Charlie Appleby and also DIEGO VALESQUEZ for Aidan O’Brien. Both horses are availbale at 5/1 if you shop around and there’s a few bookies that are offering 4 places instead of 3.
3:05 ROYAL ASCOT - COVENTRY STAKES - 6F
Much the same as in the Queen Anne I am sticking with Appleby and O’Brien. it may seem unoriginal but if this what hte system throws up then I will stick with it. GSTAAD (5/1) and MILITARY CODE (6/1) again both value for each way bets. What a race it looks with seeral with real live chances. My other selection at a slighlty bigger price is ROCK ON THUNDER (12/1) for Kevin Ryan. Some bookies are paying 5 places in this race so please make sure you shop around. With 21 runners that extra couple of places can be crucial.
3:40ROYAL ASCOT - KING CHARLES III STAKES - 5F
Another big field and again please shop around for the bookies paying extra places. Several are paying out each way the first 5 home again. AESTERIUS (40/1) is my main selection and I am takign a bit of a risk but at these odds it’s worth it. Disappointing last time out with no reason provided is a bit of a worry, but it was his first run since running at the Breeders Cup in November. A highly regarded horse that could run a big race at massive odds. I also have to add TROPICAL STORM (33/1) into the mix as these two have beaten each other in the past and with such big odds we can afford to have some each way bets. For me the biggest danger is BELIEVING (5/1) who I will also be backing.
4:20ROYAL ASCOT - ST JAMES'S PALACE STAKES - 1 MILE
I backed RULING COURT (7/2) in the 2000 Guineas and although many feel Field of Gold was a bit unlucky, I still think he was a genuine winner and is still improving. I think the price is decent and I am happy to take on the favourite. Let’s not forget this horse cost a whopping £2.3 million.
5:00 ROYAL ASCOT - ASCOT STAKES - 2 MILES 4F
31 Years later and I am still boring people with my story of how Sweet Glow won the Ascot Stakes. If you haven’t suffered the tale yet, then you can read about it here.
Anyway onto today and my selections. Word has been strong for the Willie Mullins trained REACHING HIGH (7/2) and it is not a very exciting selection but he loves to win this race and the noise is loud for this one. No huge priced selections here but EAST INDIA DOCK (7/1) MANXMAN (10/1) and MR HAMPSTEAD (12/1) look like big dangers.
5:35 ROYAL ASCOT - WOLFERTON STAKES - 1 MILE 2F
So yet another Godolphin race for me here with Charlie Appleby’s MILITARY ORDER (16/1) looking to be a huge price and I also like the Bin Suroor runner PASSION AND GLORY (66/1) at a whopping price and well worth a small each way interest with a bit of a question mark over the trip. I do really like Roger Varian’s ENFJAAR (7/1) who was an excelent second behind Persica back in September and looked in need of the run at Sandown a couple of weeks ago in preparation for this.
6:10 ROYAL ASCOT - COPPER HORSE STAKES - 1 MILE 6F
This is starting to get a bit silly now, but in short you might just say I think that Charlie Appleby and the boys in blue are going to have a good day. The system is throwing them up and so they are the selections. ENDLESS VICTORY (33/1) is hugely overpriced. When running over 1m 2f it looked like he would stay but when stepped up to 1m 4f faded and appeared to not last home but it could be that it wasn’t down to the trip and at these odds I am happy ot take a chance. Breeding suggests it won’t be a problem. We will find out. I have a few marked off but the other two I am going with are also huge prices. REAL DREAM (40/1) and CRYPTO FORCE (50/1) are far too big to ignore. The form of Ian Williams is my concern for Real Dream as the stable has been quiet although seems to be slowly picking up. Crypto Force cost £900,000 and has been running in Group company. Dropped significantly in grade with a first handicap run could see a big change of fortune and at this price I am more than happy to have a punt.
